What is Recron® GreenGold? 

Recron® GreenGold is a fibre that is made from 100% post-consumer waste PET bottles, i.e. plastic water bottles. It's a specific type of rPET that has additional eco-friendly benefits as well as looking and feeling like cotton. It not only offers sustainability but also ensures complete backward and forward traceability through the use of innovative tracers that are embedded directly into the fibres of the fabric. This cutting-edge technology allows consumers to trace the entire journey of the finished product, from the raw materials used in production all the way through to the final fabric. 

Environmental impact 

As mentioned, Recron® GreenGold is produced from 100% recycled plastic bottles. Around 80% of used plastic bottles end up in landfill every year resulting in around only 20% of plastic bottles being recycled. In 2025 the percentage of bottles being recycled should be much bigger to help stabilise the production of products being made from recycled materials, just like our Recron® GreenGold range. Our goal is to be able to produce more and more of bags made from this material to continually reduce the amount of plastic wastage on Earth, we continue to strive to utilise every waste material.

The use of 100% recycled plastic bottles as a raw material means that there is no need for the production of new plastic. The manufacturing process uses energy efficient technologies, utilises renewable energy and conserves water all while minimizing waste through zero-waste. Because the bags are made from 100% recycled plastic, it means that they can once again be recycled if necessary. This practice ensures that the product has been fully utilised, even at the end of its life cycle.

We offer two styles of tote bag in this material. Both bags are available in three different colours: white, navy, and black. When we release a new collection, we like to make sure that there is a smaller style of bag as we know many of our customers like to use them as gift bags or to hold important possessions when carrying a larger bag with many items. Our Rosa bags are a miniature version of a tote bag perfect for gifting or even carrying some snacks! They are available in white, navy and black. Similarly, we also offer recycled PET Recron® GreenGold pouches known to us as Acer. Our Acer drawstring pouches are the perfect bag to store your keys or jewellery.

The perfect gym or PE bag! Its water resistance and drawstring closure makes it perfect for easy access outdoor usage, especially if you play a sport. The bag is available in white, navy and black and known as Amaryllis.
